Mainly depends on your driving record, some charge more if you have a bad driving history than others. I pay about $280 yr for my bike through Allstate, but I pay extra for full coverage and to cover accessories and stuff….so they are covering me for about a $35K bike.

I have State Farm for my motorcycles, cars, and house (my wife and I each have a car and a bike).

State Farm beat AllState by about $100 per car and doesn’t offer homeowner’s in my city anymore (ever since Isabelle). I’ve called Geico, but their rates weren’t even competitive.

I have comprehensive (including theft and fire) and liability; I pay $156/yr for a 2002 SV650 and $136/yr for a 2006 Ninja 500R. They only wanted about $50 more apiece for collision.

We save 50% when we switched three bikes from Dairyland to Geico. Our son save money by insuring an R6 with Progressive.

In my state, the vehicle has to be insured to be licensed even if its never operated on the street.

I don’t think you’ll find an umbrella rate since the class of bike/car, year, make and model are included in the formula for your rate.

Try progressive or Geico i had Progressive for a long time i moved 7 miles south that changed my zip code premium went up 70% so i switched to Geico price went down now i pay $99.00 per year on my 2006 Honda XR650R check both out

There is no such thing as umbrella coverage for vehicles. Each vehicle must have its own policy. To me it is ludicrous that you are bitching about a 200 a year policy on a gxsr! I was paying close to 1400 for my 05 zx6r, but then again I have had a few tickets. I insure my bikes with progressive, it has been the cheapest and best overall where I live. Progressive is the number 1 rated motorcycle insurer for a reason.

There are many factors that go into your rate, and every company does it differently, so there is not one ‘cheapest’ company. You have to do the research and see who’s cheapest for you.

I find Progressive is cheapest for me, but I’ve never had a claim with them so I can’t say how well they do there. My 2nd bike is liability only (it’s an old bike, not really worth much so I take a ‘calculated risk’), and it’s only $50/yr.

Yes, you’re right, you can only ride one bike at a time. But the insurance is on the bike, not on you. If someone else rides one of your bikes, and crashes it, your insurance pays. This is useful to me because I sometimes go riding with a buddy and let him ride my other bike.

There are several insurance companies now that offer quotes online, so you can just visit the website, enter your information, and get quotes. Usually they give you several quotes from different companies so you can compare, but I don’t know if I trust them to give other companies’ quotes fairly.
