She may be having things going on in her personal life or she may have a difficult class or student this year. The next time you see her, you could ask her how she’s been and in a kind way, let her know that you noticed her sadness. Perhaps she could use an afterschool volunteer to check papers or something like that to take some stress off. If she made fun of you, she most likely was just trying to lighten her own mood by "teasing" you and didn’t realize she was hurting your feelings. I don’t expect previous students to come back to visit me, but some do. That’s partly how I can tell if I’ve made a difference in a kid’s life. It’s rewarding to keep in touch once in awhile to see how they grow up. Don’t feel bad or write this teacher off. If you liked her and care about her, go to see her again sometime and bring your conversation to the present more than reminisce about when you were in her class. You sound like someone who has a lot of compassion and sensitivity!! What great qualities to have–I’ll bet you are a terrific friend!
shes just having some problems of her own she’ll get over it there’s probly something personally bad going on in her life
There are any number of things that might be of concern to your past teacher. Many teachers are a bit schizophrenic in that when in the classroom they exhibit one personality, and in person they exhibit a very different personality. The one thing you must not do is to take the mental state of another personally. That is, do not make the mistake of thinking that whether a person is sad or not is your "fault".
What people are "feeling" is a reflection of what is going on within them…. period. We do not have the power to "make another feel one way or another". Many people make this mistake and "blame" how they feel on someone else. But this is delusional thinking based on a fear of owning ones own emotions.
