What do I need to do next with my motorcycle permit (insurance/registration) in California?
I just got my motorcycle learner’s permit and I would like to know exactly what I need to do( in terms of legal matters[insurance, etc.] and motorcycle registration) so I won’t be technically riding illegaly. I have a Suzuki DRZ 400 which is street legal, insured and registered with plates to my father. I would love to know, thanks.
If the motorcycle is in your dad’s name, and he has insurance on it, then all you need to do is to be added to his policy. This is by far the cheapest option. If you drive anywhere, even around the block and you have an accident you, the person you hit, nor your bike will be covered if you are not listed on his policy…so do not delay in getting added.
You should be good to go. You might want to check (or have your dad check) with his insurance to see if you need to be added.
