what are the rules for driving a moped like this?

I see a ton of people driving mopeds like this around town and I’m planning on buying one. I know it’s street legal, but I was wondering what the rules are, for Florida, for this type of moped.
Do you need a motor cycle driver’s license?
Do you need insurance? (I have Geico right now)

it has a 150cc engine and top speed of 60 – 70 mph.
First Thats a SCOOTER, not a Moped. "MOPED" is No more than 30mph, AND no more than 50cc`s.
SECOND, there is No dealer, DO NOT BUY WITHOUT A DEALER. the dealer will set it up, and prep it for you, make adjustments and will have parts and warranty info for you!

The 150 size means that you have to go back to the DMV and get your motorcycle endorsement, no big deal. its a Motorcycle everyone does. And yes, insurance too. Geigo M/C insurance is about $10 a month.
There are a TON more 150cc size scooters out there, there are scooter clubs in Florida too, get with one of them.

Mdcbert is right on …..over that 50 cc category you are considered motorcycle territory and will need the motorcycle endorsement as well as motorcycle insurance. I agree with him also….get something from a dealer that can be serviced locally by them if something goes wrong. It is really a crap shoot with overseas scooters….and where do you go for parts and maintenance? Contact your local DMV and ask about their motorcycle testing and requirements. I would highly recommend that you take the motorcyle safety course also in your state. MSA 1-866-333-1829. They can walk you through the whole process and maybe able to provide you with a loaner bike to use during the process….They do here in Colorado…usually 250cc 5 spd. You will be a licensed motorcyclist when you are done and can ride anything you are comfortable on! Best
Yes anything over 50cc, you need a motorcycle licence and insurance. Geico does insure "scooters".
Don’t get anything off the Internet! Buy from a local state licenced dealer who will support you with parts and service after the sale.
