What are the requirements for driving/buying motor scooters?
I’ve always wanted a car like any other young person, but I don’t think i’m able to afford it, especially with gas prices rising. I also don’t have my driver’s license yet due to personal family reasons and financial. But now that I am older, I am trying to work things out for myself.
I was thinking that a motor scooter would be better because it costs less and is supposed to save on gas. But what are the requirements for a license and getting the scooter and any tips? What fees must be paid (such as insurance, license, etc.)? Any info on this would be helpful!
Thanks!
Also, do you need your license before you actually purchase your scooter and how do you take a driving test for motor scooters?
You don’t mention where you live, and that matters a lot.
In most states, as long as you buy a scooter under 50ccs you don’t need either a license or insurance to operate it on the public roads. You are restricted to non main highways (of course) and cannot have a passenger under 10.
Some localities have additional rules concerning licensing, helmet and insurance requirements.
