Yes and no. I just completed an online estimate to test this and R6 insurance was $1,000 cheaper. The only two questions I changed was how long you have your motorcycle license and how long you been riding a motorcycle. I changed these both from 0 years to 2 years, which means I had to be dishonest on the second answer. They’re not going to ask why a teenager never owned and insured a motorcycle in his own name, but will confirm the first answer when they run your license so do not even try to be untruthful with this one. But consider this, licensing cost me $97, licensing will now cost you $178. Chances are it is not coming back down, and at 20 it could even be $300. So, regardless of insurance, get your license now just to save on all the taxes!
*/End of Line.
Probably not. The company is gonna wanna know why you’ve had a license but no insurance – isn’t insurance compulsory in CA?
age + type of bike / cc also + # of accidents will probably be the biggest factor. always take the msf course. it will probably help out too with your life and your insurance cost.
MSF is the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. They provide training for motorcyclists, both beginners and ‘advanced’. The beginner course, they even provide the bike. And if you pass the course you don’t need to take the riding test with the DMV, which I understand is very difficult. You also get a break on your insurance, but I don’t think it’s very much (in my case it is $10, something like that).
How long you’ve had your license doesn’t matter. I don’t think it even matters how long you’ve been riding. What matters is how old you are. I could be wrong about that but I think that’s how it is.
Having my license for 18 years had no effect on my premium.
Age and driving record did.
age,how long you have had your license and how
long you have been riding are all a factor in the
insurance game. the msf course is a beginners
motorcycle class that teaches you the basics
of riding a motorcycle. do you know how to ride.
