I started July 14th for no other reason except that hubby ans I were away for our anniversary and we could casually browse stores and we happened to see good buys/things we thought our family members would like, etc. I am on the downhill slide, have the majority of the family bought for, have alot of Santa type stuff to go, but knocking out quite a bit every day. I like to have one fun night of taking the kids to buy for each other and I generally end up with some odds and ends stocking stuffers etc. about mid Dec. But I aim to be done with the bulk of it shortly after Thanksgiving. The crowds stress me if I have to be focused, but the fun trip is no pressure, so we always thrwo that in towards the end.
Yes, I’ve started Christmas shopping. My goal is to be done before Dec 1! I’m off to a good start but I need to start wrapping!
I always start my Christmas shopping the weekend after Halloween to avoid the large crowds; however, it’s much more fun to go shopping closer to Christmas when the stores are decorated and Christmas is in the air. What I do, is buy a few of the smaller gifts right after Halloween to get that out of the way and then buy the bigger more exciting gifts closer to Christmas! So far, I’ve bought a precious moments collectible clown for my mom. I’ll start doing more shopping closer to Thanksgiving/Christmas.
Sounds like you’re almost done with your Christmas shopping. Lucky you!
I’m sorry your child isn’t learning the meaning of Christmas.
So far just one huge train table and wooden train set. Will start picking things up as I see good prices for them. Hate to feel rushed and somehow it always gets done and wrapped before Christmas.
It’s driving me nuts.
I have to find something for my 3y/o who is a horse nut and aspiring cowgirl, something for my 23 month old who is entertained by anything and everything as long as it can be chewed, slobbered & sat on!
And then something for my 6 month old who is the a-typical, giggly rolling, 6 month old.
And i reeeeaaaaally don’t want to buy toys because they rarely get played with and we’ve already bought them a huge swing and slide set, and indoor slide set with a ball pit, they’re now getting rodeo/riding lessons which is costing sooooo i’m scratching my head as i search Amazon and others right now. Then there’s my husband who keeps saying "nothing" to what i can get him. lol
No and I never will, but I have added up what you have spent, and been glad I’m a Jew.
Holy crap, you’re buying her MORE? Isn’t this your RELIGIOUS holiday? I’m not sure I ‘get’ the whole thing, so don’t let my questions offend you… For us, our kids birthdays are the days we give the ‘big ticket’ items, and Chanukah is very minor despite what retailers would have you believe.
I haven’t started yet, I don’t like to until December for a few reasons but the main one is I like to shop when it’s really cold & when Christmas is in the air. It seems more like Christmas shopping rather than casual shopping…but I am ready to start decorating though!!!
I start my Christmas shopping each January, when most stores slash prices and I can get great deals. I have had most of it done since July. I am completely finished with all shopping except for my father and my father-in-law, and I already know that my husband and I are buying them both digital photo frames when we find a good price.
I have 3 sisters, 2 sisters-in-law, and mom and mom-in-law and lots of girlfriends to buy for, so I shop January to July for them. Most Semi-Annual sales are in those two months… Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Yankee Candle Company… all favorites of the women I know and shop for.
I also shop at the party stores early in the year for out-of-season stuff… last year I got $120 worth of cards, bags, bows, platters, etc. for $23. I found 3 rolls of cute, sturdy wrapping paper at Old Navy for $1.25 for all 3, originally $8.50.
All in all, I have saved 50-80% on nearly all of the gifts we are giving this year. I plan on doing the same thing next year and every year after. You never know when you will find the perfect gift for someone.
