The situation is this…

I am looking to buy a motorcycle for myself… I have a motorcycle riders permit, and have taken the Basic Rider Safety Course offered by the California Highway Patrol.

I am 18, and I’ve never had any accidents.
.
The bike i want will be financed. A 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 650R.
.
I know already that my rates are going to be higher as I am a "high risk" driver (rider).
.
I checked a few companies already and i’ve found that any sort of decent coverage through those is WELLLL beyond anything i can even remotely afford…
.
(I am working, and average about 0 - 0 a month)

The bike I have is costing me 5 a month.

I am curious to know what insurance company is the cheapest for a first time rider in southern california.

I’m gonna need a vehicle to get to work and school…I want a motorcycle instead of a car because I think they’re just sooo cool! Also gas would be cheaper. A few questions…

1)Is it true insurance for motorcycles is a lot cheaper (in general) then for cars?

2)What’s the difference between a cruiser, a street bike, and a sport bike? Which is best for someone who’s basically just gonna use it to drive around, not for any stunts or anything?

3)I know this is kind of random…but does the helmet and jacket get really hot? I’m living in Southern California.

I understand it will not be cheap but am looking for an experienced body-man/welder or body shop that can complete a credible job. I am in Southern California, and considering the car culture here, believe there is someone that would take on this job. Any responders?

I am a UCLA student in Southern California and am selling my car. I’m interested in buying one of these 49 cc 50 cc scooters. Tons of people have them at the school I attend; they look pretty chill, super cheap (~0-00) and very easy for getting around West LA. I was curious though: Do I need scooter insurance? And, do I need a special license?
