I am looking into a cheap way to get around town and someone told me mopeds are pretty cheap. but i need to know how cheap. How much does a moped cost new? how much would gas cost me on average? what about license and registration? would i have to buy insurance and if so how much does that cost? links to a site that would tell me these things would be very helpful. thank you for your time. (i am an 18 year old female and this will be my first vehicle and first time driving anything, i don’t know if that makes a difference)

I’ve ordered a moped (that goes faster than 30) and my plan is:
1. Get insurance
2. Go to motorcycle driving classes
3. Register the moped
4.Take the license test
5. ride?
Are those all the steps? Are they in the right order?

Hello, I live in Austin, TX and am considering buying a moped scooter like this:

I need to know about how much that’s going to run, I am open to new and used. Also, are there any classes I would have to take to ride it? Do I have to get insurance? Does it run on gasoline? Thank you for any help. also, if you know of any places in Austin where I could buy one at a reasonable price, let me know! Thanks.

Specifically I am asking if you need a driver’s license or just a moped license, and would a 150cc moped require some sort of vehicle insurance?
If it makes any difference (which I don’t believe it does as speed is tied in with cc’s) the moped goes 60-70mpg.
And again, this is for the state of Kentucky.

I would really like to get a moped for the summer. They seem to be a lot cheaper than cars and so does the upkeep of one. The law in NC says that in order to be considered a moped it can not exceed 30mph. I will be driving on all roads except for the highway so I would need one that goes up to at least 50-60 mph. Would this then be considered a motorcycle. I would also want turn signals. I am willing to spend about ,500 dollars at the most on it. I would only be using it in the summer. I may use it during the school year but rarely. I am willing to get a license and insurance, but I want something that can handle being on regular roads. Any advice would help.

The police took my moped from me because they said I was not allowed to ride it because I had not passed a CBT test in the last 2 years.
I passed a CBT test in 2005 and a car driving test in 2006. I had all my documents with me ie: license, insurance, CBT (DL 196).
They said they would crush my car unless I paid them £150 plus £20 for each day they store it and they wrote to me saying they will be crushing it soon unless I pay them the money and complete another CBT.
My insurance company said I was not required to do another CBT.
I cannot afford the money the pound is asking.

I need a bike or moped. My friend told me that you don’t need a licence, insurance, etc… for one that does less than 50cc. I prefer a bike. I don’t need to get on any main roads. It’s only to get to school.
I like these, but I don’t know where to buy them:
Yamaha TZR 50
Rieju RS2 50 Matrix
MBK X-Power 50
Derbi GPR 50
Appreciate It!
I live in A Georgia, USA… More specifically, Gwinnett County…

I’ve never bought a motor vehicle of any sort before and know very little about them. I just got my license. I decided since cars cost too much and I don’t really need one except to get to work (which is only a mile away with a gas station in between) I might as well save money and get a moped. In Connecticut, Mopeds 50cc or less are street legal and do not require registration or insurance, just a driver’s license.
I’m tight on money right now and I found this old moped for only 0. Looking at it, does it look worth its price or should I look somewhere else?
Here’s a link to the ad:

Thanks.
Actually, work’s more like 2 miles away. I can’t bike to work because it’s not a job where you can go in sweaty.
Oh, actually, it’s registration that you don’t need. You do need insurance, which is just dumb cuz it’s not like you’re gonna do damage to a car worthy of large sums of money haha.

I am aware that in Nevada a moped under 50 cc’s doesn’t require registration or insurance. I’m starting college soon and I need a way to get back and fourth, but I am only 17 and can’t get my license until I’m 18, so I was wondering If i needed one to operate a moped.
If I do need a license do you think the police would have a big problem without me having one? I wouldn’t be driving recklessly and I live in a town where there are bigger problems like prostitution and drug usage. If I did get caught without a license what would happen?
Thank you

Hello, I’m moving to california from florida in a month to start college, and I intend to sell my car here and get a moped or a motorcycle over there instead to save a little money. I don’t know the laws on motorcycles there? i know in florida if its less than 50cc you don’t need a motorcycle license or insurance. what about california? if you need insurance how much $/year are we talking?
I don’t know squat about motorcycles and I’ve never even rode one or understood the whole gears thing.
if someone could recommend a few brands or even whether to get a motorcycle or a moped/scooter (is there a diff?)
i have a tight budget (1-1.5K)
any advice would be awesome!!!! <3
