Scooter Insurance Archives

my husband said he just found out that NC changed the moped law last year. He said if it has a motor, can be driven on the road, it now has to be insured and you have to be licensed. I can’t find it anywhere even on the DOT website. It had been that a moped could be driven without a licensed driver or insurance.

Ladies would you date a guy who drives a moped?

i live on the strip in las vegas so it never raines and i dont have to drive far.so i thought i could save insurance money and gas money but i dont want to look like a tool lol

Im interested in buying a scooter because i have heard you dont need a license or insurance to drive one.

I need a way to get to work easier (right now i take the bus) and i cant afford any kind of insurance right now. I dont have a car and i dont have a drivers license.

Plus from what i have seen scooters are way cheaper then cars.

why dont you need a license for a scooter and what is the difference between a scooter and a moped? I think i read you DO need a license for a moped but not a scooter.
My state is kentucky btw.

In July of 2004 I was riding on a moped and I was hit by a car. The lady that hit me said she fell asleep at the wheel but didnt tested for drugs or anythign else because it was a hit and run and the police said she could have went home and did drugs after. She didnt have insurance and I have about 00 our of pocket expenses (that I can prove) plus my left leg was ampuated. I have lost out on years of work not to mention having numerous surgeries and constant pain in my leg. Here is my ? This lady doesnt own a home and like i said no insurance, would it be worth it to hire a lawyer and sue? I would have to pay upfront for the lawyer because she doesnt have insurance. I have a 5 month old son and need all the money I can get so I dont want to waste any if this is a lost cause. What do you think?

I have been driving all these years but due to cost wish to start using a motorbike instead. I want those ones that look like a moped but with larger wheels or actually like a dirt bike but on road. Does anybody know what sort of bike this would be? Do I have to pay tax, get permits, insurance etc. Can somebody tell me where to find these things. I just want a decent looking bike to get me to and from work around the area etc.

thanks

What do I need to ride a moped?

I was thinking of buying this moped

http://www.scooter.co.uk/50cc-retro-scooter-p-30.html?colour=8

and wanted to know what else I would need to pay for and how much It will cost me.

So far I have: Helmet (£40), Insurance (Maybe £500?), Road Tax (£15/yr), CBT (£135)

I know there are more things i need to pay for like maybe registering it but I don’t know how much these things will cost.

Thanks in advance :)

I know that insurance can vary dramatically…..but it would be good if someone had a rough estimate…and are there and insurance compare sites that don’t require the number plate of the bike and the liscence number and stuff ?

Okay, so I am 16 living in London and I am thinking that a moped or scooter might be an easier/cheaper way to get around and I wont have to be squashing my way into public transport all the time! I am aware that if I wasn’t to drive one that it would have to be 50cc and not go above 30mph. But that’s where my knowledge stops, what would I have to consider in terms of insurance, license, tax, mot or what ever scooters need. Also would I be charged congestion charge and how many lessons would I have to take. How much do they cost on average and what about parking where can I park? Is it really worth ditching the bus?
What about insurance?

Hi, im gonna be 16 soon and insurance for me riding a 50cc moped to college and back is pretty steep! Do i need insurance? Thanks

I'm looking for a moped…?

I want to get a moped, but which on is right for me??
I live in BC and I recently phoned my local insurance agency and I was told that in order to be able to be consittered a limmited speed motorbike that it had to have cartain limitations and measurements:

-50cc or less
-24cm (10 inch) wheels or more
-weight a total of 95kg or less (209lb) excluding battery/fuel
-go no more than 70km/h (45 m/h )on flat ground

I am looking for one that has these characteristics:

-has a passenger seat
-goes 70km/h (45m/h)
-runs on gas
-is the kind where you have your legs and feet infront of you, not like a motor bike

Do you think you can help me any?

i’m gonna be 16 in July and i was thinking about getting a moped for getting to and from college as there would otherwise be two busses that would cost £500 a year. does anybody know what the insurance would be for a 16 year old girl on a 50cc moterbike? also what kit you would have to buy with it, (helmet ect) also i dont know how fast they go or if you can fit two people on them (my friend might need a ride:) any advice is welcome.

Can i drive a moped/ scooter?

i live in Illinois and am in college, but my friend in kentucky just bought a moped/ scooter (he said there was no difference) and drives it to class on the roads. that would be really helpful to have and he said alls you need for it is a regular drivers liscense and no isurance or plates or anything as long as its under 50 cc. Is that true? its kinda hard for me to believe. And is there anything else i can drive without insurance like that? also are u allowed to drive on sidewalks and paths around buildings with that, and just like park it a bikerack. right now my liscense is suspended but ill be getting it back eventually…
ALSO would u be embarrased to drive one of those around campus. im a 19 yr old guy btw.
