I am a UCLA student in Southern California and am selling my car. I’m interested in buying one of these 49 cc 50 cc scooters. Tons of people have them at the school I attend; they look pretty chill, super cheap (~0-00) and very easy for getting around West LA. I was curious though: Do I need scooter insurance? And, do I need a special license?

I have a 80 cc scooter. I ride for "pleasure", not commuting far distance. Right now, I am renewing, but 0 for 1 yr. coverage is to high. I'm a college student, 20 yr. old. I didn't take the driver course. Any students out there who have scooter insurance? what you have?
