The motorized bicycles with pedals; not the scooters. It seems like only Pep Boys has anything, but it’s not a good selection. Does anybody know of a specialty store that carries mopeds?
P.S. - Don’t worry; I can afford an ticket in case a cop doesn’t have any murders to stop instead 8-|

I went to their website and in said this:
"In Louisiana, a motorized bicycle or moped is a pedal bicycle with a motor rated no more than 1.5 brake horsepower, a cylinder capacity of no more than 50 cubic centimeters, and an automatic transmission that produces no more than 25 mph on a flat surface." Does this mean that the bike has to have pedals? There are bikes that are called mopeds that can go up to 90 mph, Does this mean that by law they aren’t mopeds. Also there are bikes called scooters. They look and run just like the bikes that are called mopeds, but just have a different name. are these scooters are mopeds. Or are they really motorcycles because they go faster than 25 mph

We are debating between a moped or a rental car. Obviously the mopeds would be cheaper since we are under 25. We just aren’t sure how many places we will be able to reach on a moped. Does anyone have any experience in this area?

I have read that in some states (including AR) any motorcycle under 250CC is considered a moped, thus not requiring a license/tags/insurance to drive.
I have read the AR state license law over and over and it states; Class M - Any motorcycle with displaces more than 250 cc’s. Minimum age 16.
My question is this, does the Ninja 250 bypass this law altogether? I have hard of people getting mopeds to bypass a DUI causing them to lose there license, but would a ninja 250 do the same?

I was thinking about getting a crappy beater car but recently stumbled onto scooters/mopeds. I’m a college student just looking to get around town for cheap. Public transportation isn’t too great where I live.

I see a ton of people driving mopeds like this around town and I’m planning on buying one. I know it’s street legal, but I was wondering what the rules are, for Florida, for this type of moped.
Do you need a motor cycle driver’s license?
Do you need insurance? (I have Geico right now)
http://www.rabbitscooters.com/products/273.htm
it has a 150cc engine and top speed of 60 - 70 mph.

I want a vehicle of some sort. I’m 13 and I know i can’t get a car. All my friends that have had motor scooters say they don’t hold a charge and break fast. Mopeds are really expensive but I’m considering that. Does anyone have any ideas??

I am going to get a 50cc gas scooter for commuting around while I’m at college, but I do not know whether to get a new or used bike. I’ve been to several dealerships and have gotten the consensus that it’s better to stick with a better quality brand (Taiwanese) than a crappy Chinese bike. I don’t want to spend more than 00 and I’ve found the following:
00 for a new Chinese bike, no warranty, more likely to break sooner
00 used Taiwanese bike, little warranty left, more durable parts and better build quality
I am not the typical college-age guy who is rough on all his stuff. I take very good care of my belongings, particularly my autos and other expensive items. I doubt that I would break much on a Chinese bike regardless of what the dealer thinks. I’ll only need it for the last two years of school, so it doesn’t have to last forever either.
So I am seeking the educated advice of those who may be familiar with scooters/mopeds. Should I just go with the new Chinese bike (what I’m leaning toward) or stick with a better quality and more expensive Taiwanese bike?
Thanks

I already own a car, but I have insurance through my parents because I’m not yet 18. In Wisconsin it is against the law not to have car insurance if you own a car, but I can’t seem to find anything about mopeds. I do know that motorcycles need insurance, but 50cc and under does not qualify as a motorcycle.
The reason I’m asking is because I’d like to just start scooting around cheaply and I’d rather not have to talk with my insurance if I don’t have to.
Also, if it helps, it’s a 1981 50cc Honda Express, with a top speed of 27mph. Well within classification as a moped.
Actually, in Wisconsin you are required to have a license to operate any motor vehicle on public roads.

I’m trying to figure this out: in a given year. how many fatal/permanently injurious accidents occur on mopeds compared to the number of accidents total? Also, how many motor scooters are on the road at that time? I’d like to know the same for cars…
Thanks!
