I was discussing the mess that is our current fuel dilemma earlier today with my sister who is a freshly graduated radiology student from a local technical college. She said that the portable x-ray machines at the hospitals she’s done clinicals at are virtually self-sufficient as far as power goes and that she’s heard that they can actually go fast enough to bust through a wall. So, my question is: how are these things powered, and how practical would it be to develop a scooter or something that is powered the same way for cheaper transportation?

Hi,
Here’s my dilemma:
I use a manual wheelchair part time for a chronic illness. I’d like to get 26" rear wheels so my arms will need less help pushing, but I’d also like to reduce my front casters down to 4" light up scooter wheels (they are currently 6"). However, I don’t want to tip forward too much, and I actually do need the footrests to stay on.
So assuming I only need my current caster assemblies or forks to be about 2" taller (8" from the bend to where the wheel bolts through, total), how do I do that? Should I just use one of the 8" caster forks with a 4" wheel? Would there be any problems with that? Are there any other solutions?
Thanks!

I have this dilemma that I’m trying to understand better. I built a website to help the people choose mobility scooters. People have commented on how much help my website has been to help them with their mobility — so it seems I’m contributing to their lives. I’m not disabled so count on other disabled people to educate me on their biggest mobility challenges. Somehow, not being disabled feels like I don’t belong, or that my solutions don’t count. I don’t work in my daily life around disabled, only online with my website. I’m trying to understand how to feel like I belong to the disabled community, without being disabled. I want to feel at home.

hey, im working on making my regular bike frame to hold a electric motor and battery, im not spending much on it, i got the 3/4 HP motor for free and a 12v 300CCA as well… my dilemma is that i only got to motor to work once, and i was using a regular AC outlet on a house. the motor is rated at 115v and as far as i know it runs on AC, it doesnt specify and i havnt gotten dc current up to 115v yet. is there any way on puting something like a transformer that will jump the 12v to 115v.
or maybe another cheap battery solution that will get me 115v. also how am i going to know if the motor just runs on AC. thanks, sorry if its vague, just ask for more info if you need any
