Hi, I’m 17 years old and looking to get a motorcycle.
I have good grades and will only drive a motorcycle when the "conditions" are right. Like weather, cars on the road Sat. Sun. which has less cars, and going to school and to work.

I don’t care if I "die" and I’m not afraid to die.
I have ,000 saved up in the bank and would like to buy a Ninja 250 for ,500 -2008. Plus 0 for gear and classes.

I will get my driver’s license this December and will take the MSD courses in spring of 2010.

I can’t find any used or cheap ninja 250’s around my area and I think I would rather go stright to the dealer rather then the seller because of too much red tape and work.

I think my insurance will be cheaper because I will ride only to school and work and I have "good" grades. Even though I am young.

SO, is there any place I can find any user friendly bikes or cheap ninja 250’s?

Motorcycle insurance?

I’m just wondering how much this will cost if I get one in the future. I’m 17. I have had a car accident recently (last thanksgiving). And yes, I was at fault. I don’t feel like naming my excuses… the insurance companies won’t care anyway. But don’t worry, no one was hurt.

So anyway… what prices are we looking at if…
1. I get it now with my parents insurance? (we own four cars… I already have one)
2. I wait until I’m 18 and move out to a college dorm and have it as my only vehicle?
3. sport bike vs regular bike?
4. I wait a few years until the car accident is off my record?

No lectures about safety please. just give me some numbers.
If you need a specific bike, probably a Ninja. Since people seem to say that’s a good beginner’s bike.

But also tell me how much something like a gsx1000R would be. Just out of curiousity.

What are the reasons for wanting to upgrade to a larger cc motorcycle?
Smaller bikes are cheaper, better mpg, and better insurance. Is it wanting more power? Or what. The smallest bikes are still faster than most cars on the road.

Moped stolen, how does the insurance claim work?

My moped was stolen this morning, I had it insured with Statefarm but I don’t know what’s supposed to happen now. I filed the claim this morning after doing the police report. Can Statefarm deny my claim for any reason? Also, when Statefarm pays me will it be for what it’s worth or what I paid for it? This whole situation is so stressful, I’d appreciate a simple answer and hopefully a nice one. For extra credit, maybe someone can answer why a person would even steal a 50cc moped out of a parking lot with much nicer cars.

Problems with a ‘97 Suzuki. Fixable?

I own a 1997 Suzuki Sidekick JLX, 4 door automatic. Yesterday, the fan under the hood completely broke off (we don’t know what triggered it, nor do I know about cars. So please deal with my idiot language) It looks like something that needs to be welded due to it completely snapping off. Also, due to the fan busting, it beat against some sort of wheel… that looks like it’s holding a fan belt, and wore it down. Is this fixable or should i save the money to fix it and use it as a down payment for a new car?

Thanks :) Also, if you suggest buying a new car, what should I look into? I need something reliable, with good gas mileage. Preferably something cute, but eh, I need the reliability more.

Suzuki Gladius/sv650 or Kawasaki ER-6N?

I’m upgrading from a cruiser, so i’m not that all accustomed to performance, but i want something a little faster then my Vstar 1100 but i don’t like the full fared look or leaning forward of superbikes.

I’m trying to deside between a Suzuki Gladius or aKawasaki ER-6N and don’t know enough about them to make up my mind.

They say the vtwin of the Gladius has more torque at low end, but is that what i really want? would that make it less safe to ride then the parallel in the ER-6n that needs to be revved up to get it’s power.

Also, how week is the Kawa at low revs? Am i going to have to worry about revving it up just to do starts and to pass cars, or does it have decent power all the way through the gearing?

And finally, i’m a long legged 6′1". which bike do you think i would be more comfortable on? I would be planning on mainly commuting on these bikes, but doing the occasional 4-6 hour road trip on them.

oh, and that reminds me, how do these bikes deal with passengers?

Thanks

Are electric Bikes any good?

Ever since i ridden on one of my grandparents little scooter, which has 3 wheels and runs on electricity i was hooked. it felt like one of those rides in a disney theme park, everything i saw at my parents farm looked so much better and entertaining, just like when you see the pirates of the carribean on that little boat. i ridden on it for about 20 hours all together and wasnt bored once, but that goes the same for the first time i driven a car which got boring after a couple of months. i wanted to get a scooter for the fresh air and feel like im helping out the envirement. but then i heard most scooters are bad for the envirement and pollute more then most cars. so i looked into electric bikes and havent heard much on that, i saw it on the news and been interested ever since. Are electric bikes any good?

I don’t mean on normal roads, I mean on roads that pretty much no cars travel on, such as in a neighborhood.

I don’t get it why are they so loud especially pocket bikes. Why can’t they make them quieter so people won’t have to restrict them because of their noise level. Why are cars quiet and most motorcycles quiet. How come these things can’t be quiet so we can enjoy them and, not be caught by the cops?

I own a 1992 honda civic that has been fully operational until a few days ago. I went out to start it but nothing turns on, none of the electrical components work. The only thing that will turn on are the emergency lights. The battery is new and charged.
The headlights do not work , only the emergency flashers. I do not know much about cars, where might the ground be located. Would it be worth it to try and replace the fusible link?

This is a two part question so any advice to either one or both is appreciated. My daughter age 10 has been spending a lot of time with the neighbor kids ages 6 and 8 next door to us and both hubby and I told her that she needed to clean her room and not go out again until we she did some work. I let her go out earlier today but then told them she had to do some cleaning before going back out because she hadn’t done any the day before. They called her cell phone and left a message that said they needed her to come out and to go out no matter what your parents say. My daughter brought the phone to me to listen. I told my daughter that they shouldn’t tell her to go against the authority of me and dad. My husband told her tough luck after she played the message for him. I don’t plan on telling their parents but would you say anything to the kids or just keep it between you and your daughter because I already told her that she had to listen to us as her parents. I know there’s peer pressure out there but don’t agree with the kids telling her to go against what we tell her.

Additional info.. Our kids go to private school getting up at 5:45 on school days while the other kids are homeschooled for a few hours a day. I often go out to supervise the kids if they want to ride their bikes or scooters to help watch out for cars. The neighbors kids are often left unsupervised outside. I did tell them she had to clean her room today and they still called asking her to come out no matter what we told her.

These kids often ring the doorbell constantly until she goes out or even if she was already out they want her to go out more after she’s already spent a lot of time playing with them. It did bother me when they ring the doorbell at 7:30 or on days when we’re suposed to be sleeping in on non-school days. I had to put up a note near the doorbell saying to please not ring the doorbell till after 10 a.m. because we wanted to sleep in during vacation and since then they haven’t rang the doorbell till after 10 but when our daughter can’t go out because I feel she’s spent to much time there they will continually ring the doorbell waiting for her to come out. One day when she and I were home sick (she missed school) they were constantly ringing the doorbell when I was trying to rest wanting her to come out.

Should I confront the other kids about them constantly ringing the doorbell and ask that they respect our privacy if we don’t want her being out all the time and also not tell our daughter to go against what we tell her or should I just leave it be since our daughter already did what we told her to do and didn’t go out?
