Road trip on a 49cc scooter: How to store extra gasoline?

I’ve taken my scooter for a couple of trips across the city (15+ miles each way) and now I want to take it on a small road trip. It only does 25-30 mph max, but the gas mileage isn’t bad. The problem is that it is a lower quality scooter. I’ve noticed that at around 1/2 a tank, it powers down and loses some umph. I want to keep a gallon of gas or so on hand just in case. Any suggestions on how to (Safely) do this?
Is it legal to ride on the 95 or 15?
I think with a scooter,you are not allowed to get on a highway,think of all the traffic problems you could cause.It isn’t meant for road trips anyway.You need to get yourself a motorcycle

If you are referring to I-95 or I-15, the answer is no.
Interstate highway have minimum speed and minimum engine size. You are out of luck in both regards.
It all depends on how much storage space you have or space that you can mount a jerry can to for extra gas. You can buy jerry cans that are as small as 1 gallon. Check this link out, unfortunately you may have to be creative on how to mount it.

A scooter should have plenty of underseat storage, so get a small gas can and put it in there. Sounds like there’s something wrong with it if it loses power with less than 1/2 a tank of gas. As long as there’s gas in the carburettor float bowl the engine should do what it’s supposed to do. I mean, how can the engine know how much gas is left, unless it runs out?
sounds to me like your trying to blow your self and someone else up. dude 125cc or bigger. and then you might be able to go 80mph MIGHT.
I’ve done this in the past with my Scooter ( yup i still have one of those)
but the tank is retained for the next scooter i might get.
I had a Fuel tank from a suzuki CS 50 which is exactly the right size to fit in the under-seat storage on my Moto-roma Roadrunner ( yup even had one of those) I cut a section of Plywood to support and act as a mount to secure the spare tank. The Fuel lines were passed through a convenient hole in the "Bucket" and connected with a Y piece to the existing fuel lines. The Vacuum line from the tank ( fuel cut off) was fed through a simple valve and connected to the inlet manifold
This allowed me to switch between tanks and or draw from both. The effect was no on bike luggage storage a safe and secure spare fuel tank and double the fuel capacity/ range of a normal scooter. to the point of getting a very numb bum..
