Is there another gas powered option other than a scooter worth pursuing to fight $3.50 a gallon gas prices?
I have to get across town to work and a bike will take an hour both ways, not to mention I’m likely to get pizzaed by a car on the way… Did I mention I don’t have 40 g’s to drop on an electric whatever…?
Get a motorcycle. avg 40 -50 mpg’s and you can find nice used one’s that haven’t been laid down for a decent price ($2K).
er .. a rider lawn mower?
Bio-diesel. High fuel mileage, much lower costs.
I’m in the same boat.
I’m waiting for electric hybrids to go the way of the dinosaur so pneumatic hybrids came come on the scene.
Hydrogen is decades away.
Meanwhile, I’ve got a 4-cyl rebuilt, and I intend to put it against a 4-speed automatic with overdrive in my 66 chevy Nova.

Good question, but besides getting a motorcycle and or going on a hybrid type of car, then unfortunately, there really isn’t much of an option. I would also suggest shorter directions to where ever your going, or if you are in an area where you can access public trans, then you can also look into see how much you would invest every week or every month compared to gas prices. Toyota Prius is not that bad on the sale prices. I’ve also heard they make a difference in the way they spend on gas each week.
They have motorized bicycles now adays. You could probably get a 175cc or 250 cc motorcycle $500.00 to $700.00 used if you look around. They have enough power to keep up with highway traffic.Good luck
My suggestion is biodiesel they have very good fuel economy, well either that or (i know u said gas powered but) the smart car…they go 80mph
you can look into a propane powered car or truck. they get good mpgs. you can probably even find a conversion kit for your current vehicle, but i dont know the price of it.
To fix your current problem: gas prices. why don’t you report those gas stations?

How is public transportation in your area? A lot of people take the bus to get to work where I live. If there is a light rail system or ferry, you can try using that also.
