Is it practical use high powered scooter 250cc-500cc for interstate riding ?
I know that any scooter that is over 250cc is highway legal. The real issue is that will I be able to use it to ride from California to Texas and Arizona ? I’m looking to get a Honda Silver Wing, Piaggio MP3, or a Honda Reflex instead in riding the Ninja 250cc. Is it really practical to use a scooter to replace a motorcycle ?

Absolutely! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222175
lol. scooter across the southwest? you need a tour bike. how long you figure you can ride one of those? remember you’ll be fighting wind and draft blown by trucks.
600 rigged for touring. year. doable. a run down to get some milk scooter? not so much. same deal with the ninja. too light.
Guys are riding the big scooters all over the place. I read about one guy who rode his Burgman to Inuvik. Another across Russia. Check this thread on advrider.com:

I see no reason why you can’t take one across the Southwest.
Can it be done, yes. Is it practical, are you kidding me. Get real. I mite take a scooter, on a day trip. But, that as far as I would go on one.
great for across town
need a big bike for trips over 100 miles
a motorcycle
NINJA 250CC SPORT BIKE
would stil be kind of small for a long tr\ip
we just finished a trip from s. carolina on burgman 650s that took in sturgis bike week, glacier, yellowstone, grand tetons parks and crossed idaho into washington. they will cruise all day at 80mph and get 50mpg, they have a curb weight of 600lbs and cross winds or mountains have no effect on them. another terrific scoot is the kymco 500.
Yes (though the best ride is off the Interstate).
A friend rode a Honda Silver Wing scooter from the coast of Texas to Seattle, WA, and back, last year.
A young couple rode two-up across much of Canada on a 49cc Yamaha scooter.

You are a dead man.
It can be done, but you can ride a lawn mower too.
If you are really doing to do this stay off the Interstate.
You may be safer, you will definitely see more interesting things and places.
I have both a Reflex and a Silverwing. Save the Reflex for shorter trips. By all means the Silverwing will go crosscountry.
Put on new tires inflated correctly. Change the oil and go.
