is it possible to put an electric starter on a kx250 2002 motocross bike?
i was just wondering because, i was going to buy one, but the bike i have now, is really hard to kick start, is that the same with the kx250?, i have a 200cc chinese bike now.
if it is pretty simple to start like the CRF150R, i won’t bother
first off, if a KX250 is set up properly, it should not be very hard to start using the kick starter.
installing an electric start would be very difficult, as the KX line does not have all the proper electrical wiring / battery to support such, and would have to be added. Likewise, from a mechanical standpoint, you would have to do serious mods to the engine itself to scab on any form of electric start, if it’s even possible … but with enough time and money, I guess anything can be accomplished.
my recommendation would be to set the engine up right (proper compression, spark plug, jetting, clean fluids & filters) and enjoy riding a great 2 stroke bike.
most the chinese knock off bikes are a piece of trash and are thought of as being throw away upon needing repairs due to the difficulty in finding proper parts … that’s been my experience and opinion…
Yeah like PMK said a 2 stroke 250 is really easy to start if jetted properly. If it were possible to add electric start it would cost a fortune. My KX250 started on the first or second kick every time. The KTM 2 stroke woods bikes have e start for 2008, but only because most woods races are dead engine start.
Waste of time and money don’t bother.
