its best to keep it running.
when you stop the motor the oil goes to bottom of oil sump, when you re start there is parts of the motor not getting full benefit of the oil, and if it is electric start, you are giving the battery a shorter life, when you start an engine it takes a small burst of fuel on the first turnover.
but yes if you are in traffic jam for 3 minutes or more you can turn off motor, IF THAT IS LEGAL WHERE YOU LIVE
Leave it on. You’ll burn out your starter.
No keep it runing. If for any reason it would not start again then you would have a problem.
Besides that size engine is not burning that much gas.
It definitely is a good idea to turn it off. Idling does consume a lot of fuel (more than when it is running at not very high RPM/high speed).
one minute durartion is trivial, besides the surge needed to re start the vehicle will consume more fuel… better let it idle on the minimum setting
Well… You can if you want.
I ride a Supermoto bike (converted dirtbike to ride on the street). I will shut my bike off at long lights because of the excessive heat of the engine. I get to sweatin and the bike gets really hot (is liquid cooled but no radiator fans). Plus the aftermarket pipe makes quite a racket. Mine is kick-start and I’ve got it down to make it fire on the first or second kick.
Being a small scooter, I would probably leave it running at most lights, but if I know that I’m going to be sitting for awhile (and you have a timer at the light) I probably would shut it down. If yours is electric start, this will put a ton more wear on the starter so I would advise against it in this case. If it is a kick start and your really good at it, go for it.
It IS NOT going to consume more fuel when you start it versus letting it idle…
