i have a piaggio zip 4 stroke and i wanna put a 2 stroke sports exhaust on it . its a 50cc 4 stroke?

   I’m gonna have to disagree with the last post. 2 stroke exhausts are specifically tuned for 2 stroke motors. If you try putting on a 4 stroke pipe, you will lose ALL back pressure, and the motor will bun EXTREMELY hot, like running with no exhaust at all, and no way for the cylinder to scavage the unburned fuel. You will smoke the piston in no time flat if you try doing that. If you want new exhaust, get a 2 stroke exhaust that wont damage the motor, or dont change it at all.

   Usually won’t really mess up engine– won’t help much either. May make more noise but lose power. What kind of 2 stroke system are you planning to put on- a unbaffled double cone racing system, a street legal system with baffles or resonator stinger? Spark arrestor in end system? ‘Sports’ exhaust as in chromed aftermarket version of the factory black painted system from couple other models? ‘ i wanna put ‘– Why? Most fancy aftermarket systems are a waste of time and money for street use, The only advantage of most is the use to replace damaged or rotted stock systems at relatively cheaper price or rapid availability. For a 50cc- what are you expecting it to do? attract police attention? *** Jon- Good enough points, I was being a little subtle on my criticisms- hinting at same things you brought out. Exhaust changes for the sake of looks and noise are usually not good for engines. At the same time I know of people that put on 2 stroke mufflers on 4 stroke engines just to have some kind of ‘legal’ exhaust after being ticketed. Old well baffled 2 stroke mufflers will quiet 4 strokes down enough to let police let you go. Questioner didn’t really specify what type of 2 stroke system he was planning to use beyond the term ‘sport’ lots of people expecting psychics to answer
