every state has slightly different laws with it comes to scooters
I would suggest to go to the DOT website of the state you live and read it yourself.
Generally, most states a scooter LESS THAN 50cc’s doesn’t require a license or a motorcycle licensed operator, the scooter must be less than 50cc’s most are 49.67 cc’s
You need a license, period.. It’s not the speed that matters, it’s your ability to function in traffic without causing an accident, and a license is your proof to police that you can do so. =)
Zero
no in some states you don’t need a licence for a moped
as far as speed your not limited(as long as you are not speeding) now because of the motor size you are prohibited from driving on some roads(highways/interstates mostley)even if you can get the thing to do the legal speed
i’ve already seen some on the interstate doing like 40
freekin death wish
i don’t feel sorry for them that’s just stupid atleast run in the breakdown lane or something
but with the right sproket/exaust setup etc you can get some more speed
goodluck
You did not say how old you are and what state your in. In this state a 15 yr old can ride a 50cc on the street with a scooter license and go no more than 30 mph. The vehicle must be street legal with all of that proper equipment and have a title so sit can have plates and insurance. That means the little pocket rockets and mini choppers are not legal. Actually they are not allow to sell any thing that doesnt have a title.
Just get your license and ride what you want.
i think you can you know, i was going to buy thins electric motorised scooter, and it had peddals on it…..this was so you didnt need a licence to ride it!!!!!! the bike can go to a top speed of around 25miles per hour…….with peddaling, a bit more!and you can go on the road without a licence!i promise, i have checked with CBT centre!!!in the end i got a sym city hopper 50cc, and im taking my cbt on the 14th of july!
i couldn’t deal with the pedals, and you only have to wear a bicycle helmet, tho in the risk of looking a bit silly, i’d still wear a bike helmet! =P
the bike is a little slow, but this is so it can be legal without a licence!she is selling it, so if your interested, let me know, its new, hardly used, and comes with battery pack/charger!!!
but if you want something a little faster, i’d do ur CBT (Compulsory Basic Training)…if you take your own bike, it has to be restricted to 31mph….but most places have bikes you can hire out for the test…after you have passed, you can go up to a 125cc!which can be nippy, great fun too! the cbt is apparently easy, and costs around £120 with hiring a bike, £95 without, and in the unikely event you fail, you come back the next day, for £65, and you will pass!!!
im taking my cbt on the 14th, and will let you know how it went……i hope you find your bike, but i would stress…DONT ride illegal, you will be stopped and banned!! then you’ll never be legal!!
licenses should be required for All motorised vehicles, regardless of age or capacity.
Depends on where you live.
In NH you must have a license.
It can be an Operator’s(automobile), a motorcycle, or even a Moped-only license.
It varies by location. Most states, it is limited to 35 mph or less.
Its not the MPH but how big your engine is. The Honda metropolitan is a great example of a scooter that doesn’t need a tag or Licenses.
