Till your 18 you will most likely have to defer to your parents wishes. Be patient your day will come. As for being a designer, good for ya but there are a lot of folks out there who can draw. Why not pass the time learning how they work? Frame design is one pursuit that is not understood by the masses and who knows you may come up with the next great innovation. Ever hear of Metisse, Rickman, Earles or Todero? There is a rich history to explore. Keep stashing the cash and pursuing your interest. It’ll happen for you.
Many, many, many moons ago … yep, I’m old, my mom said pretty much the same to me except it was 1961 and it was a Cushman Super Silver Eagle scooter … kinda looks like a baby Harley.
I even started a lawn mowing service to earn the money, but the money ended up going to help our family as we were very poor.
Still, I never let the dream go and when I got out on my own, I bought my first bike, a Honda 50 Cub.
Now, that said, you mentioned a lot of areas you’re doing well in, but make sure you don’t have any negatives against your case. You’ve got to prove youre responsible in all things.
A tip from an old time rider for when you get your wheels, ride like everyone is out to get you, ’cause they aren’t looking for anything smaller than a semi … and sometimes not even that small. It’s worse because of cellphones, loud stereos and such.
And check with UT DMV for info on laws concerning your riding legally, it varies from state to state.
