seems to me most people without kids don’t really use their yards at all. so i’m okay with ours getting lots of use. swingset; ride-on toys; one bush has been converted to a fort and it’s amazing it’s even still alive; all the trees used as climbing structures; moss dug up for "habitats" for animals; and a giant tent out there at the moment, killing the grass.
my husband does occasionally freak out when his grass gets dug up to make holes. but oh, well.
Let them roam and be happy.
no, we take care of our yard and teach our kids to put their things AWAY!
It has been such a hot summer that our tots toys have taken over the house…
The playhouse and toddler swing set are in the house.
We do have the nice grass still we got a large inflatable pool, big enough i can sit in it too, we just deflate and let the water out every use… By we, I mean my husband while I get changed. Lol.
We don’t have a yard but my mum who lives down the street does and yes, she needs to go past the sandbox, paddling pool and tire swing to get to her veggie patch. Her veggie patch is child/cat and now chicken proof.
yep. there’s a sandbox off our patio, a swing and trapeze bar hanging from our deck, child-sized floaties underneath ever seat on our boat, and chalk covering every square inch of our driveway… wouldn’t have it any other way.
Sounds like your kids have a blast! This is just one of the joys of being a parent; watching them play. Better the sound of your children’s laughter than empty silence and a perfect lawn, IMO. Enjoy it now because all too soon, they’ll be off at somebody else’s house, then college!
That’s what yards are for.
The only thing in my yard is a wooden play-yard structure with swings. The pool and bouncy castle are both instantly inflatable as they have to be plugged in. I keep them in the garage so they don’t get stolen or ruined. All the bikes, scooters and ride on toys get hung up in the garage. All the toys (water guns, frisbee’s, balls, trucks, etc.) get locked away in a cedar chest outside. The basketball backboard and net are attached to the front of the garage).
My husband is a perfectionist when it comes to our lawn. He worked at a golf course in his teens/early twenties. We use our yard a lot as entertaining space. We often sit out there at night and if we had a lot of stuff in the yard my accident prone husband would be sure to fall all over it.
He’s taken over the deck. The back yard is pretty much dog territory. Too many landmines to play freely out there. (I do pick it up sometimes but they just keep making more!)
Yes we have a trampoline, swingset, soccer goal, kiddie pool,4 wheeler, skateboard ramps, you name it.Our driveway and front yard also has a basket ball hoop, chalk covering every square inch of the driveway(thanks to my grandkids),and jump ropes. We havent cleaned for awhile, lol.
