Does anyone have an opinion of the Harley Davidson Street Bob motorcycle?
I’ve been riding mainly mid-sized sport touring motorcycles and am considering a cruiser. I am looking for opinions from experienced cruiser riders who could lend me advice on whether this is a good all around cruiser.
"Friends don’t let friends ride cruisers". It’s not just Harleys. The whole cruiser style is lame. The riding position sucks. The suspension is typically worse than on a sport bike or a standard.
Id go with the Super-glide Custom my self, but the Street-bob is fine.As far as all around cruiser a set of throw over saddle bags are needed.Any of the Dyna glide models are great cruisers.
"A good all around cruiser"? Yes. Being an FX it doesn’t have the big front end so its lighter and easier to flip around on. Very nimble. Like all Harley’s, its not a drag bike but it can hold its own… I never liked the handlebars, but that don’t mean you won’t.. (they are not uncomfortable, just not my speed) If you’re gonna take your passenger you’ll need another seat. If you have long legs the mid-controls have got to go…. You get that suspension set up right and you won’t remember the last thing she said before you get into 6th gear.
You know of course Y/A is HD bash central. How dare you ride something they hate….You’d think this was Iran, or 1936 Germany.
(e) Again here comes bart with his imbecilic, fatuous ‘facts’,… I paid only 18 and change for my Heritage. Cash. The fat Bob is 12,9. My HD dealer said 11,5 on the phone today. Thats 11,5 bart,… NOT 17. -having circulation problems in the gray matter again son? your hard hat is way too tight.
Have a buddy that bought a new 08 last year. Put 21,000 miles on it already. Loves it. He put a big bore kit in it. Rides solo all the time. Just from what he says, I’d say a good bike!
It just doesn’t make sense to me why anybody would spend $17,000 for a Harley Davidson when the Japanese cruiser bikes are far superior and are half that price
(my green hard hat means i’m going green by installing energy saving light bulbs in my home)
Bart S: Did you know those energy saving light bulbs shatter in the cold, light with a dim yellow light compared to a normal bulb, and by costing more and having to be replaced more, actually cost more even despite their energy savings? But when it comes to saving the environment, I’m sure you’ll love to hear that the CFL’s are actually 80 times worse for the environment, for the energy and materials consumed in the construction of each bulb.
So stop stroking your "I’m saving the environment" pole and STFU.
I think the fat front tire looks strange. The 96 CI engine is underpowered and expensive to upgrade. High center of gravity reduces handling ability. The engine having to idle on 1 cylinder to keep from overheating is a joke.
Check out a Victory Hammer or Jackpot. The oil cooled 106 CI engine has 25 HP more than a stock HD, oil cooled, great paint jobs and JD Power rated best V Twin in a survey of actual bike owners. 5 year warranty lowers cost of ownership. Test ride one at any Victory dealer and go from there
I think the street bob is ok. For the money think the super glide is a lil better deal. I have owned 2 super glides loved them both. It really isn’t to costly to add to bars and what not. You wont get the performance out of it like a sport bike. Test ride one see what you think. Harley is a different animal all together. I did lots of canyon riding on mine, with stage 1 kit i found it sufficient. I have moved up to the bigger touring bikes. I ride with guys on bmw, gold wings, and kawasaki. always keep up. To me it visual and ride preference.
if you ride a sport touring bike i don’t think you will be happy with the street bob,i would try to test ride one first to make sure you like it.
you could always get a bigger sport touring bike try the concours 14
