Depends which country you are in - in the UK, no. If you are stopped, the police will give you something called a "producer", which will give you 7 days to present your documents at a police station.
In the US, it depends on the state.
EDITED TO ADD: Keep them at home - I supposed you could put the photo ID part of your licence in your purse.

It is not a legal requirement in the UK to carry your documents with you. Should you be stopped by the Police you will have up to Severn days to produce your documents at a police station. I hope this helps.
I never have my documents on me when I ride or drive. These days, if the police want to know whether you have the right documents, they can find out soon enough via the national database.
If you have a two-part licence though, keeping the photocard on your person would prove very handy as a form of ID for the police if they wanted it, so it’s no bad idea to carry it.
yes millie……keep proof of insurance & regeration on the moped or yourself if u have no place to put it….Also it proves its yours….
