Can I ride my motorized scooter?
I am 13 years old and I bought a motorized scooter that goes 35 miles per hour (that’s what the seller said). Can I ride it in the bike lane? Can I even ride it?! Do I need to register it? Do I need a license to ride of some type?
As you can see I have a lot of questions and it would be nice if you guys answered them.
No bike lanes!! Yes you can ride it on private property. Motorized bikes need registration to ride on the street. First take a course on riding this is very cool.
Ask someone in school the counselor or on-line for the nearest MSF Motorcycle Safety Foundation " Basic Rider Course". No matter were you ride……. YOU MUST WEAR A HELMET… this is very cool too. Stay safe, ride safe. Good Luck
depends where you live. i have a gas powered skateboard and i ride it on the sidewalk and the cops dont even care. sometimes i ride it on streets as long as they are not busy ones. they just see me and give me the thumbs up. my goes 35 mph too. it has a 52cc engine and i dont need a license
The MSF classes are open only to people who have a driver’s license. If the scooter’s engine is larger than 49cc you will need a motorcycle license in addition to a regular driver’s license. If it is under 49cc, all you need is a car license. If you are 13, you can only ride it on private property owned by your parents or legal guardian, or if someone else’s property your parent or guardian must be present while you are riding. This is true anywhere in the United States. Other countries may have different laws.
You can not ride it on streets or side walks your not old enough and maybe the cops drive by but they do not give you thumbs up or anybody else and then one will decide to up hold the law and your busted.
It Depends What Country Yhoor In.
In The UK Yhoo have To Be 16 To Ride Such A Bike. Which Is 50cc And Doesn’t Exceed 31Mph (Give Or Take Some As Most Scooter Will Usually Do 35Mph)
To Also Ride It Legally Yhoo Need A CBT, Provisional License And Valid Insurance. All Of Which Yhoo Need To Be 16 For To Even Apply For Them. Yhoo Also Need To Have Visible ‘L’ Plates!
As For Bike Lanes The Answer Is NO!!!!!
And If Its A UK Bike It Needs Be Registered, I.E:- V5 Form (Log Book As Its Known), And It Should Have Road Tax, A Valid MOT And A Numberplate.
Unfortunately Yhoo’ll have To Wait A Few More Years Before Yhoo Can Legally Ride This Bike
Good Luck, Safe Riding
