Anyone know anything about Harley Davidson Motorcycles?

My dad had an old Harley Davidson. Its a 1980 Shovelhead. It was something that he passed down to me and there is no title for it. It hasn’t been riden in over 15 years and isn’t even completely put together anymore. It was taken apart to be rebuilt and never put back together. I would like to put it back together and ride it. What can I do about not having the title? Any information on this?

You would have to find out who has the title or if it was lost in a move or some such thing. Then, I assume your father is deceased, so have the heir to his estate contact the DMV and request a duplicate title and they will have to have proof of death (death certificate) and proof of inheritance. Then sign a sworn statement with a notary and that should satisfy the state and then a new title can be issued.
As for putting it back together-buy a manual for the bike either from Harley or from Clymer and have fun. But make sure you can get the title first, because other than that, it is good for parts only.

Jancie is right about the title part.
Better get a genuine Harley shop manual and make friends with someone who really knows this bike or it will hurt you first time you ride it. Something not put together right will break or malfunction and you might go down.
There is so much to know about aligning parts and proper torque, making all the correct adjustments, and sometimes a skilled tech knows tricks not in the manual. Even if you have to spend several hundred dollars getting pro help it will be worth it in the end.
